Why do we put on our “Day” Clinics?
Our 1-day, 2-day, and 3-day clinics have been designed from the ground up to provide a great balance of fun and skill development! But, they are also intended to allow working parents to have their kids busy enjoying hockey on days where they are off school.
You can expect Competitive Edge to put these clinics on over the following dates each year.
- Thursday and Friday of MEA Weekend
- Wednesday and Friday around Thanksgiving
- 2 or 3 Dates over Christmas Break
- MLK Day
- Presidents Day
Our Multi-day clinics are fun first and foremost on days where players are out of school and most parents still have to work. But players also get some high-quality hockey skill development while they are enjoying the days off of school.
Day Clinics Format (All of the dates above would have this same format)
Our day clinics give kids a little bit of everything that Comp Edge offers and cap it off with the joy of 3 on 3 hockey.
Here is how they work…
- These begin at 9:00 AM and finish at 2:15 PM allowing parents a long stretch of the day to take care of their responsibilities.
- Day clinics start with a 3-hour skill development rotation. In the first 90 minutes, half the kids go on the ice for a high-performance session of on-ice skills training. At the same time, the other half are further split into 3 groups and sent to three off-ice stations where the groups rotate stations every 30 minutes. Those stations will be: The Crossover Flywheel, The Bullet Skating Treadmill, and Hand Skills (in skates in our “snipe zone” hands skills studio).
- After 90 minutes, the group that started off-ice goes to the ice and the group that started on-ice goes through the off-ice stations for the following 90 minutes.
- After that we take 45 minutes for lunch (Competitive Edge orders pizza for lunch and this is included in the camp cost) and finish with 3 v. 3 hockey for the last 90 minutes.
- These camps take place entirely at Hat Trick Sports’ location in St. Louis Park.
2019 Presidents Day Day-clinic Specifics
On Presidents Day (February 18, 2019), we will have a 1 Day Clinic. It will start at 9 AM (Welcome to drop your player off at 8:30 AM or later. If you need to drop off earlier, please email to make special arrangements) and the 3v3 Hockey at the end of the day will be over at 2:15 PM. It is 4.5 Hours of Hockey Development.
